ANZAC Day march

On the 25th of April,  2013 some members of Mena Creek State School went to the Anzac Day march in Innisfail. We started at the cenotaph and proceeded down Edith Street then we turned around and came back the way we came from. There were all the schools in our cluster for example, Mena Creek, Innisfail East. Innisfail State College, Silkwood and many more had come to join in. There were a few speeches and then the Australian flag was raised. After that a plane flew over all the schools and dropped poppies.

There was a band playing all types of music. The men who were playing the music with the instruments were dressed in red uniforms and long black pants. They even had different types of instruments that sounded really good. The band was marching with all the schools and joined in with the march.

There were also some elderly men who we could tell had been to the war. The men had medals that were pinned to their coats/shirts. The men sat in little jeeps and rode along side of the schools; they all waved when they passed everyone. The elderly men wore light brown hats with light brown coats. Many of the elderly men had to walk with walking sticks.

That leaves us with one conclusion, that the Anzac Day March was a sad, joyful and exhausting day all at the same time. Many people from Mena Creek State School would agree as well.
